Orthorexia Nervosa
Orthorexia nervosa is a relatively new term which describes a concern
with eating healthily that becomes an obsession. The exact kind of food
considered healthy by the individual varies.
Orthorectics spend a large amount of time thinking about food and meal-planning,
and impose rigid regimes upon themselves. Inevitably they find themselves
increasingly isolated and unable to socialise.
The long-term consequences of orthorexia this depends on the diet the
person has imposed upon themselves. Often the health risks are not particularly
greater than that of a vegetarian or vegan.
