Eating Disorders and Men
Although eating disorders are more common in women than men, the number
of male sufferers is increasing. 5 to 10 percent of anorectics are male,
and approximately 10 to 15 percent of bulimia sufferers are male.
Many male eating-disorder sufferers participate, or have participated
in a sport that demands a certain body type, such as wrestling and running.
Eating disorders are more common in homosexuals than heterosexuals.
This is thought to be due to a greater emphasis on appearance.
